Stay Safe, Stay Active, Stay Local
After months of being cooped up at home, it’s safe to say that many of us are eager and ready to get some fresh air. Luckily, Lansing has a ton of great outdoor activities that you and the family can partake in (while maintaining a six-feet distance from those around you). Here are a few outdoor festivities you can try out this weekend:
River Town Adventures. Open seven days a week, you are free to rent a kayak or canoe and travel down the open water of the Grand River or Red Cedar River. If water isn’t your cup of tea, you can also rent bikes and travel around Lansing on two wheels, instead of four! River Town Adventures offers a great escape from the usual parks and hotspots, while getting some fresh air, exercise, and quality time with the ones you love.
Golf. The Lansing area offers a variety of beautiful and quality golf courses, and with the rolling fairways and fine greens, you’re bound to enjoy your round, regardless of your score on the 18th hole. Bring your clubs and swing by Eldorado, Forest Akers, Hawk Hollow, Eagle Eye Golf Club, and many, many more.
Farmer’s Markets. If one thing is for certain, it’s knowing that small business owners and local farmers took a hit during the state-wide lockdowns. So, let’s show them support and spend some time and money with these regional vendors, while also soaking in the sunshine. Visit the Summer Farmer’s Market, Allen Farmer’s Market, South Lansing Farmer’s Market, East Lansing Farmer’s Market, and the Farmer’s Market at the Capitol for the best produce at the best prices.
The Lansing River Trail. With over 20 miles of paved trail, the Lansing River Trail is one of the Capitol city’s greatest attractions. It spans all the way through Old Town, downtown Lansing, and even stretches into parts of Michigan State University’s historic campus. Your eyes never grow tired of all the beautiful sights: from open parks to modern architecture, art exhibits, and the pristine waters of the Grand and Red Cedar Rivers. Whether you’re hoping to take a stroll, go for a run,
Wherever you go, be sure to stay safe and have fun -- and feel free to tag us or leave a comment and reply to show us where you spent some quality time this week!
