5 Local Businesses to Support

This time of uncertainty in our nation today causes a lot of stress and anxiety. This time is difficult for everyone in different ways, especially for local businesses. Those who own these businesses are worried that their store or restaurant may go under due to the stay in place order. If we want our favorite places to be open when this is all over, it's extremley important to support them now. Here are five businesses local to the Lansing area to support...

1. Coffee shops! There are many coffee shops and bakeries you can support right now. While some may be closed, places such as Strange Matter Coffee Co., Mitten Raised Bakery, Foster Coffee Co., and Blue Owl are selling gift cards for you to use at a later date. If they're still open, order a cup of coffee or tea online or over the phone for pickup or curbside delivery. Don't forget to always tip your server!

2. Reno's: This local sports bar is usually a hot spot for game days. Order takeout or purchase a gift certificate so you can continue to watch the Spartan's play ball in the fall!

3. Meat Southern BBQ: Meat is a local favorite! As the temperatures get warmer, BBQ is the perfect dinner to remind you of summer. Order takeout from Meat, trust me, the brisket is the best!

4. Sir Pizza: Who doesn't love pizza? Instead of ordering from major chains like Jet's or Dominos (if that's your favorite, go for it!) order from a local favorite, Sir's! You and pickup your pizza or have it delivered. Order a little extra for leftovers!

5. Zoobie's Tavern Old Town: This town favorite is closed down until further notice, but they're still doing curbside/carry-out services at Zoobie's and their other owned restaurants as well.

There are many local businesses that need our help. Purchasing gift cards from a clothing or art boutiques, ordering carry-out from your favorite restaurant, or even donating can give these businesses the support they need. Remember, small acts of kindness can make a huge change. Support each other and stay healthy!
